Vinta - Summer Green Karnival
Summer Green Karnival is part of Vinta’s Heritage collection. Heritage inks are inspired by the culture and history of the Philippines. The name refers to the Manila Carnival which began in 1908 and takes place in Wallace Field. According to Vinta’s website, “the green ink thus evokes the green fields where magic is found and happens.”
Karnival is a very soothing green. A mid-to-darker, powdery, cool green, I see influences of blues and touches of yellow. It shades nicely on many papers. From lighter areas to darker areas of more concentrated pooling, there is a dusty comfort that from these greens.
Despite its soft nature and lack of brash saturation, this is a nice writing ink. As you can see on the words above and below the ink splash, strokes are clean, crisp, and well-defined. It might be a slightly conservative green, but it isn’t shy or conveying a lack of confidence. The dark edging of strokes, mixed with the depth of that green make it a very readable green.
The splatter shows a beautiful hint of yellow-orange in the areas of pooling, with intense edge darkening, and a hint of sheen. Summer Green Karnival is very well-behaved, flows well, and dries fairly quickly. There aren’t a huge variety of interesting options in this kind of green, and Vinta’s Summer Green Karnival is a wonderful choice!
