Vinta - Pagtangi
Another beautiful ink from Vinta’s Fairytale Collection, this is Pagtangi or Clouds of Gray! Released in Feb. 2022, the mini-series is inspired by the Lola Basyang fairytales. Pagtangi is based on the story of a princess trapped in an iron castle by an evil sorcerer, and the prince who rescues her.
Pagtangi is beautifully metallic in coloration with patina and aging variation. It definitely brings the iron castle to life! Vinta calls it a “gray-toned ink with brown and purple nuances.” I definitely see deep greens in saturated areas, as well. The shimmer here is copper-gold and gives the feeling of a royal rust. It’s a beautiful ink with wonderful shading!
So far, the Fairytale Collection inks have all performed very well in writing. I haven’t found any feather or bleed-through on any of the six papers tested. I haven’t had problems with clogging or hard-starts, either, but I recommend medium or broader nibs with the shimmer. Pagtangi dries quickly, but the shimmer feels a bit more concentrated than with the others in the series, and there’s some smearing when dry.
I really love the complex colors and heavy shading of Vinta Pagtangi. I don’t have anything similar, but the recently released Adventurine by Ferris Wheel Press looks very close in pictures (and 40% more expensive!) The combination of variation and the gorgeous copper shimmer is magical! Highly recommended!
