Tramol - Yue Hui
Yue Hui is the third of three inks purchased from Tramol’s 16-ink shimmer series. Yue Hui translates as “moon glow”, and I think that’s a very appropriate name for this dazzling blue with gold shimmer.
Yue Hui’s deep, dark blue base color is a beautiful foundation for the mesmerizing array of colors brought on by the flashes of sheen and generous gold shimmer. There’s a fiery red edge sheen that glows warm with the gold shimmer. The gold sheen adds a green when seen against the blue background. It creates almost a rainbow effect when the light hits the ink on the page. It’s quite a sight!
In writing, I found Yue Hui a bit more demanding than the other two in the series, that I’ve reviewed. The shimmer didn’t cause any problems, and flow was wet, and slightly high in viscosity. On coated papers, it was mostly well-behaved (particularly nice on Mnemosyne), but there was some feathering on uncoated papers. Drying was somewhat slow, as well. It’s a nice writing ink if you respect its demands, but this ink is really all about the looks.
Visually, this is a brilliant shimmer ink, and it brings all the beauty of a star-filled night’s sky. In writing, I liked it the least of the three that I purchased, but I definitely recommend the series. Tramol inks are a true bargain, and their consistency has really impressed me. You can easily find them on AliExpress (I recommend “Dingyi Boutique Store” on Ali). Enjoy!
