Tramol - Evening Bell
This is Evening Bell from Tramol. It’s a pigmented ink, and in packaging and consistency, it’s almost identical to the Yuyi pigmented inks that I’ve reviewed. The Yuyi inks are made by Tramol, and although both versions are available on AliExpress, I believe Yuyi are the rebranded Tramol inks, and I’ve been happy with both brands.
Evening Bell is a delicious, deep chocolate or walnut brown. The bottom of the bottle reveals a bright orange pigment. It can be seen in the splatters and gives the ink a hint of chestnut orange when wet. When dry it’s a darker walnut brown. There’s some shading on coated papers, but this ink is mostly about the very pleasing color and water-resistance. That makes it great for professional use, too! Check out the swatch comparison to see where it sits against some other popular browns.
All of the Tramol and Yuyi inks have been nice writers, and Evening Bell doesn’t disappoint. It’s clean and crisp in profile, and it dries relatively quickly. There’s no feather or bleed-through at all.
I like Evening Bell. As a pigment ink, you need to respect its potency. I’d be careful using it in pens that may stain and avoid letting it sit in pens for prolonged periods. Just to be safe, if I’m worried about staining, my habit is to use pigment inks and then immediately clean them. Evening Bell is a gorgeous, rich and complex brown, and a great writing ink. At US$2, it’s a ridiculous bargain! Order a few colors in the series and enjoy!
