Tono & Lims - Power Up
Today’s ink is a shimmery, garden-fresh green. This is Power Up from Tono & Lims’ Friendship series. Friendship inks are inspired by members of the Japanese fountain pen community. I don’t have any information on the backstory, but the label certainly depicts a friendly character!
I’m always attracted to greens that are more plant green than mineral green. This is a beautiful, lush, verdant green, and it reminds me of aged bamboo leaves, fibrous, and slowly fading. I’ve reviewed several inks that are a similar green in shade and tone. What makes this different, however, is the sparkling green-gold shimmer. It really lifts this ink to a new level. There’s nice shading, and a stroke halo on premium papers. This ink has a lot going on, but it’s refined, and well-balanced. It’s a very good-looking ink!
Power Up is a nice writing ink, too. Neither wet, nor dry, it flows nicely and is very predictable on the page. It’s not a fast-drying ink at 15-25 seconds on premiums, and 5 seconds on office copy, and it’s well behaved.
There might be other shimmer inks in a similar green, but none immediately come to mind that perform so nicely. If you prefer plant-based greens, you’ll love Tono & Lims Power Up. It’s a beautiful ink. Enjoy!
