Tono and Lims - Cinnamon Apple Pie
The name Cinnamon Apple Pie is a wonderful way to start things off with a smile! It’s a deliciously sweet treat, but complex in flavor at the same time, and that matches this ink very nicely. This is one of five inks that make up a special Tono & Lims Pen Lounge series.
This is such an inviting color. It’s a rich brown with strong red influences. As you can see in my images, it can be warm or cool in tone depending on the paper you choose. The Cosmo Air Light swatch shows the complexity you sometimes get very nicely, and the writing on the Tomoe River swatch matches the richness of what I found on many writing samples. On Cosmo Air Snow, there’s a beautiful powderiness that you can also find. I like all of the flavors I found in Cinnamon Apple Pie.
This is a wonderful writing ink. Performance was consistently excellent on all of my test papers (including cheap office copy paper) and extremely comfortable. There was no feathering at all. Show-through was surprisingly minimal for such a rich ink, and there were no spots of bleeding. Drying was very reasonable on coated papers and very quick on uncoated. It’s clear that this ink was created from an expert pen user’s point of view!
Obviously, you need the right opportunity to get this ink and the others from the series, but if you’re able, it’s well worth the effort. You can find them at Tono & Lim Pen Lounge events and pen shows where they participate. If you have the opportunity, it’s well worth putting on your list. The bottles in the series are only 15 ml, but they are priced nicely. All five feature the cute, nib-shaped lounge chair on the label.
I bought this bottle at the event at Pen & Art, a beautiful pen and ink shop and cafe combination (@penshopkorea @pennartshop), and enjoyed meeting Nib Meister Shishikura-san (@kiyoko_shishikura_tonoandlims) who helped create the inks. If the others in the series write as nicely, I wish I’d bought all five!
