Taccia - Ukiyoe - Fukaki Hanada
In terms of overall series aesthetics, Taccia’s Ukiyo-e series has to be one of my favorites. The 40 ml bottle and packaging designs are simply stunning. Fukaki Hanada is one of the inks honoring ukiyo-e artist Hokusai, and the box features the woodblock print Lone Fisherman at Kajikazama from his 36 Views of Mt. Fuji series.
With the first stroke of the pen, color similarities bring Iroshizuku Tsuki-yo to mind. Like Tsuki-yo, Fukaki Hanada is a medium dark, deep-water blue, but it’s a bit light with a dusty quality. The powdery aspect gives it a very comfortable, calming persona. There is moderate shading, as well, which adds welcome lighter highlights. I like non-standard mid-blues, and this is exactly what you get here.
In writing, it’s a fairly wet ink and flows nicely. I haven’t had any problems with feathering, but there is a bit of ghosting on some papers. You can see light sheening on the swatch, but I’ve only seen hints of it in writing. This ink dries reasonably quickly, too, which I always appreciate.
This is an attractive ink, appropriate for fun or office use. It’s a nice writing ink, as well. I love the Ukiyo-e series, and prominently display them in my collection, so I can enjoy them at all times. I think you’ll enjoy having and using this ink.
