Shanghai Stationary - Huang Pu
Shanghai Stationary Huang Pu - Ink drop
Shanghai Stationary’s (The Netherlands) blue black is named for the Huang Pu river that cuts between Shanghai’s old city center and the modern center of Pudong. This is a great name for a color that is foundational for any company’s catalog.
Ink Swatches on Cosmo Air Light and Tomoe River
This is a classic blue black with just a hint of yellow undertone. It matches well with some of the other inks featured in the swatch card comparison image, and I think I prefer it to some of the consistently popular blue blacks on the market. There’s a bit of shading, enough to make it interesting, but above all else, I think of this as a great daily choice. It’s a very appropriate color for work or regular needs.
Ink Swatches on Iroful and Takasago Bank papers
Huang Pu is a very nice writing ink. Strokes were consistently clean and sharp across all papers tested, as you can see. I didn’t find a single instance of feathering or spread. It behaves very well in every way. Drying times were average or better, and the chromatography shows good water resistance. In terms of flow, it’s fairly wet and solidly comfortable.
Writing sample on Cosmo Air Snow paper
I don’t have any negatives to report. This is an attractive blue black and a strong writing ink. You can find it in a 3-ink set in a 10 ml bottle, or individually in a 50 ml bottle. Strong recommendation for this one!
Shanghai Stationary Huang Pu ink writing samples
Special thanks to Shanghai Stationary for sending this and several other inks over to try! As usual, when I accept inks or pens to try, I review the ones I want, and I always include all the negatives and positives that I find. I write these reviews based solely on my own user experience, and to give you the info that I’d want as a potential customer. Enjoy!
