Sailor - Manyo - Koke
Wrapping up the reviews of the four additions to Sailor’s Manyo line, this is Koke. In some ways, it is the least dual-shading of the four, but it’s a real beauty and is still a brilliant color-shifting ink. I love it, and it’s the one I would choose to use every day!
Koke blends blue and green in a beautiful way. I see it as a lovely aquatic, peacock blue with strong tropical green elements throughout the base. Closer inspection reveals pink and lavender touches in areas of saturation, and in stroke centers. It’s definitely a feel-good color combination! It shades fairly nicely, although less dramatically than the other three Manyo inks added to the series. I think this is a very attractive ink.
Like most of the other Manyo inks, Koke is a wet, but very well-behaved ink. Strokes are consistently clean and sharp. Shading seems stronger on uncoated papers, but the colors really blossom on coated papers. It’s very reasonable in terms of drying, and never gave issues on any of my six test papers. It’s a great writing ink!
I strongly recommend this one. Koke is a beautiful ink, and it really appeals to my eye. I could definitely enjoy this as a regular choice, and I’m sure it will delight with a water brush! Don’t miss this one!
