Robert Oster Red Gold is a very festive, very shimmery explosion of color and cheer! Originally released as part of a 4-ink holiday pack in the winter of 2017, it’s now a standard ink in the Shake ‘n Shimmy collection. It’s a great holiday ink!

Robert Oster - Red Gold - Variation and Edge

This isn’t a particularly deep red; it’s more of a bright tomato red. The gold shimmer is intense and bursts from the splatter and written strokes. There’s no real shading, but that’s not surprising for a shimmer ink. I didn’t find any stroke halo, either. Overall, it’s a pretty combination, though, and it delivers visually exactly what it promises.

Robert Oster - Red Gold - Color Range

Red Gold is a nice writing ink. It’s rich, fairly wet, and smooth-flowing. I didn’t have any problems with clogging, but this is an intense shimmer, so standard care is recommended. It performs very nicely on high-quality papers, and mostly well on cheaper copy paper, too.
