Iroshizuku Syo-ro
Pilot’s Iroshizuku inks are just so consistently good! Today’s ink is Syo-ro, and it’s far more interesting, than I honestly anticipated. I expected a simple pine green, but what I found was so much more!
Meaning “dew on pine tree”, this ink really balances and bobs between its blue and green influences. Wet in flow, it goes on a deep, powdery blue, but quickly shifts to a base of powdery green teal. This is a generous shading ink, and broader nibs on premium papers show this off well. Light areas lean blue, and contrast nicely along darker areas that are decidedly greener. The splatter shows a bold, flaming pumpkin red-orange sheen that teases on premiums, together with a fairly strong edge halo. This is a lovely ink, and completely appropriate as a daily go-to for casual or professional needs.
In all respects, this is a great writing ink. It has a beautiful consistency, wet with a comfortable, smooth flow and feel. Drying is fast at 10-15 seconds on premiums, and under 5 on office copy.
You can’t go wrong here. Iroshizuku Syo-ro is a beautiful and interesting teal, a nice shading ink with a good edge halo, and a great writer. As you probably know, the bottle is a beauty, too! As they say in Singapore, “Buy! Buy! Must try!”
