Monteverde - Olivine
Monteverde Olivine is part of their gemstone series. It’s a lovely, deep, mossy green that is firmly on the yellow end of the spectrum. It immediately brings to mind the rich greens of forested mountains.
In my experience, the market is dense with greens of the emerald and teal varieties, but nice, consistent, floral greens are a bit less prevalent. Olivine shows some shading in medium or broader nibs, but it often comes across a little darker than I would ideally prefer in written stroke.
Olivine is somewhat wet, flows well, and dries reasonably quickly. In areas of pooling, a dark, blackened sheen appears. I've used it in a variety of different pens, and haven't had major issues with crusting, but I have had some. I’ve also noticed a strong tendency to crust around the edge of the bottle. This isn’t uncommon with some greens, but it’s never something I like.
Monteverde inks are very well priced. If you’re interested in a floral, olive-forest green, then Monteverde Olivine might be an option to consider. Keep in mind the issues with crusting, but this ink has its fans, and for the price, it’s worth a try.
