Lennon Tool Bar - Sunset Glow
Sunset Glow is from Lennon Tool Bar’s Atmospheric series. The Atmospheric inks are pigmented, highly water-resistant, and are inspired by atmospheric phenomena.
Visually, both in the bottle and on the page, this is an interesting ink. In the bottle, Sunset Glow has an almost chalky appearance, with very little translucency. That worried me a bit, but I didn’t have any problems with clogging or cleaning. On the page, it’s an unsaturated, milky orange, and reminds me of orange cream sorbet. On uncoated papers, it’s fairly two-dimensional and lacks variation in shade. On coated papers, there is some limited shading, but it doesn’t really develop strength. There’s a decent edge halo on some papers, which adds good definition. Overall, it’s a nice-looking ink, but doesn’t have a strong personality.
As a writing ink, it does what it does very well. Strokes were very clean and sharp on all six test papers, and the edge halo seen on some papers adds depth to the defined profile. It’s a nice, wet ink in use, and it flows smoothly. Drying was amazing! Rhodia was the slowest at 10 seconds, the other premiums were closer to 5 than 10 seconds, and office copy was even faster!
When I first used the ink, I really wasn’t an immediate fan, but it quickly grew on me. I love the drying time, and that it’s so water-resistant. I also came to really like the soft, cool, creamy orange, but I’d love to see more variation. This ink won’t be for everyone, but it’s a nice ink, in its own way. If you’re interested, don’t hesitate. I like Lennon Tool Bar inks, and this is an unusual ink.
