Diamine - Twilight
Diamine Twilight is a subtle, understated beauty. The word “twilight” is often associated with an approaching end, as most think of the time between sunset and the dark of the night that signals the coming end of the day. However, another twilight occurs in the early hours that transitions from the dark of night to the light of day. This twilight marks a beginning, and all of its potential. It’s this twilight that I associate with this ink.
This is a gorgeous, chalky, powdery, deep teal. It has a softness that exudes comfort and confidence. In finer nibs, twilight’s charms largely remain hidden, and it’s simply a nice dark teal or blue-black. In broader nibs and the right paper, twilight comes alive. Its beauty is amplified when it shades from light to dark. Under ideal conditions, soft highlights emerge at the ends of strokes, as well as a powdery glow at their center.
As a writing ink, Twilight requires the right paper and nib to perform at its best. It was excellent on Rhodia, Mnemosyne (both are coated papers), and Apica (uncoated) with crisp, featherless stroke profiles, some shading, and drying times from 25-35 seconds. Feathering was a problem on both Kokuyo (coated) and office copy paper. In my opinion, office copy paper is simply unusable with Twilight. Despite that, this is a nice writing ink.
Diamine Twilight is such a delicious, powdery teal! Paired with the right nib and paper, you are heavily rewarded. It’s office appropriate, too. Consider it a significant style upgrade to business black or blue-black!
