Diamine Safari olive green ink drop

Diamine Safari - deep olive green ink drop

Well, this ink is a nice surprise! Safari is from Diamine’s 150th Anniversary collection, and as far as I’m concerned, this is a fantastic ink! The deep, rich, forest olive green is clean and pure.

Diamine Safari’s rich, dark saturation

As the name suggests, Safari is a lush, deep green, but it’s more jungle than grassland. Light areas are a lovely savannah green. Here, it’s the green of sunlight on the underside of certain leaves. In truth, it’s not a prolific shading ink, so it’s the darker greens of forest shadows that you see most often. There’s a bit of black sheening in heavily saturated examples, as well. Despite being so dark in writing with finer nibs, it’s clearly a green, and I like that very much.

I don’t have any complaints in use. In fact, from the moment I tried it, it stood out as an excellent writing ink. Flow is smooth and consistent, nicely wet but always in control. There wasn’t any crusting, as I’ve sometimes found with some inks in this category of green. There’s a nice, darkened edging that gives written strokes a crisp, clean profile. Drying was fast on uncoated papers, and average on coated.

You’ll enjoy this ink from the first moment nib hits the page. The color is interesting and inviting, and it’s suitable for both work and play. It’s a very comfortable ink in the pen and to the eye. Plus, with no worries about crusting, this is a good one.
