Colorverse - Felicette
Félicette (glistening), is part of Colorverse’s 2018, season 4, Trailblazers in Space collection. In 1963, the French space program launched the first cat into space. Her name was Félicette. Animals played a big part in the early stages of space exploration, and it’s wonderful that Colorverse honors them. This ink is available in both glistening and non-glistening versions, and in bottles of various sizes from 5ml to 65ml. It’s ink number 50 in their catalog.
As a cat, Félicette was black & white, but as an ink she makes a much bolder statement! This is a very vibrant, almost plastic in appearance, candy apple pinkish red. My sample is glistening, which has a beautiful, deep yellow shimmer. It’s a rich, dense shimmer that carpets strokes in sparkle. The effect is mesmerizing.
As a writing ink, it performed well on the four higher quality papers that I used for testing. On each, stroke profiles were well-defined and sharp. Shading and halo were weak, and there wasn’t any sheen, but this is the glistening version, so that was expected. It was best on Rhodia & Mnemosyne, with Kokuyo next. Drying times were 20-30 seconds on the three. On Apica, it was slightly lighter, and a bit less crisp, but still performed well. Drying times were 15-25 seconds. On office copy paper, strokes were far less defined, but overall, still good. There wasn’t any sheen, halo, or shading, but drying times were 5 seconds. It’s definitely usable on office copy.
If you’re looking for something festive, this really is a beauty! For special occasions, this is about as celebratory as it gets. It has some of the deepest, richest, yellow gold shimmer, that I’ve ever used. The shimmer brings out gorgeous dark tones on the otherwise very bright reddish pink ink. If you like shimmer inks, this is one to get!
