Colorverse Dirty Red - Ink Drop

Colorverse Dirty Red is from the first group of inks released as part of their Project series. It’s available in the beautiful, and significant 65 ml bottles. It’s ink number 004 in their catalog. I’m not sure how they came up with the name, but I find this red anything but dirty!

Colorverse Dirty Red color range

Colorverse Dirty Red’s range of shades and sheen

This is a nice red. It varies slightly based on the paper you choose. There’s a sweet pinkish-red quality in light areas on some, and slightly more plum on others, and in areas of saturation. Overall, shading is moderate, but there’s enough to add the right accent and to help it smile. The splatter images show a bit of greenish-gold sheen. There’s enough to quietly highlight stroke edges, but it never really develops beyond that. It’s not a shocking ink, but I like it, and it’s very usable for day-to-day needs.

In writing, it generally behaves well, but on less friendly papers you may find small instances of feathering. On good quality papers, it’s clean. The chromatography shows a persistent grey element that gives this ink some water-resistance, which is always nice. Drying was average, as well, so not problems there.

Colorverse Dirty Red’s crisp stroke profile

Colorverse Dirty Red is interesting. There’s enough pink and plum in the red to make it stand out from the more common dark crimsons it resembles. If you don’t have anything similar, this is a nice option. Enjoy!
