Colorverse - Cat’s Eye Nebula
Colorverse - Cat’s Eye Nebula - Ink drop
Colorverse has been on a bit of a roll with the Nebula inks that they’ve released over the past year, or so. I think it’s a great theme for dual-shading shimmer inks, too! Cat’s Eye Nebula is one of three Nebula inks released in early 2023, but there are a couple of others that you could group together with them. The three latest are available individually and come in the 65 ml, teardrop bottle that I really like.
Colorverse - Cat’s Eye Nebula - Color Range
Cat’s Eye Nebula is a gentle, dusty light green with beautiful pink and peach shimmer. It’s a pastel and leans greyish-green on some papers. On others, there are hints of celery at the same time. It has a complex color profile. It’s also a very nice shading ink with wide variation.
Ink Swatches on Cosmo Air Light and Tomoe River
I was worried about readability, but it isn’t a problem. There’s a strong stroke edging on coated papers that adds nice depth and definition. There’s no edging on uncoated papers, but color variation is greater, and hidden undertones develop, and both add to visual ease.
Colorverse Cat’s Eye Nebula Water Wash
In writing, it’s moderately dry which surprised me. It isn’t uncomfortable, but some may find it too dry on its own and want to add a drop of ink lubricant. On the page, drying times were about average.
Nice Shading Accents!
Colorverse makes nice shimmer inks, and here the particles are very fine. It didn’t cause any clogging issues for me in the Jowo medium used for testing, and show-through is very mild. There’s no feather, and only slight spread on uncoated paper, and on coated papers, it’s razor-sharp!

Cat’s Eye Nebula is interesting and attractive. If the slight dryness doesn’t bother you, you’ll enjoy this unusual shimmer ink.
