Antigua’s - Mint
Minty green inks are difficult to get right. To my eyes, an appealing balance of blue and green is far more common on inks leaning blue, than it is with inks leaning green. Antigua’s Mint succeeds where many others have not.
This is a delicious, minty, aquamarine green. On coated papers, you see the blue influence, but the yellow elements (visible in saturated stroke centers on coated papers, and in the chromatography, too), result is a very friendly, almost sweet mint green. It’s even greener on uncoated papers, and I like both versions.
On all six papers I used for testing, this is a nice shading ink. On coated papers, the shading is more clearly defined, and a strong edging give written strokes sharp and crisp profiles.
In writing, Mint is a wet ink. Flow is smooth and generous. This results in slightly longer than average drying times on coated papers, but on uncoated papers, it dries quite quickly. Overall, this is a nice writing ink.
You can find Antigua’s inks at www.antiguas.es. They come in very nice, 50 ml bottles for just €11.99 per bottle. These are high-quality inks for a good price. If you like Mint, don’t hesitate, but there are twenty other colors to tempt you. (And good news! Starting in January 2024, full international shipping will be available!)
Special thanks to Miguel Angel at Antigua’s for gifting me with the inks, and to Maria at www.inksinspiration.com for sending them as a surprise! Check out both of their websites!
