De Atramentis - Bananas
At first glance, you may think this De Atramentis ink is a golden brown, rather than a yellow called Bananas. While the majority of each written stroke lean golden (especially in the splatters and in the wettest areas of strokes), the longer you look at the ink, the more appropriate the name “Bananas” becomes! Stroke ends lighten, which makes the ink feel very much like a deep, past ripe, banana yellow and brown. I have a number of golden-brown inks, but none creep so boldly into the yellows.
This is supposed to be a scented ink. And I do get a scent, but it isn’t flowery, and it doesn’t smell of bananas. To be honest, it just smells like an ink to my nose, but that may just be my particular sample.
This isn’t the fastest drying ink, but it isn’t really slow either. It has a nice amount of shading, and the color really grows on you.
I don’t have anything quite like De Atramentis Bananas, and I’ve been interested in expanding my yellow choices lately. I’m happy to have it!
