Orange is another ink from Antigua’s that appears simple and straightforward at first. It doesn’t take long to notice and appreciate the fine balance in this specific shade of orange.

Antigua’s Orange blends the orange of the perfectly ripe citrus fruit with the last golden rays of sun before sunset. It’s punchy, but gentle and restrained at the same time. Some oranges suffer from the glare of being overly bright, but here it’s potent, yet comfortable on the eyes. It makes me picture a glass of the fresh-squeezed tangerine juice with an unpeeled wedge slice of the fruit on the side.

Flow was neutral, neither wet nor particularly dry. In feel, I probably prefer it on coated papers, where it glides more freely, but that’s my preference for almost all inks. Shading is very nice on all papers. It’s more dramatic on coated papers, but there’s great variation on uncoated papers, too.

Coated papers give you well-defined, dark stroke profiles with no feathering. On office copy, there’s a bit of spread, but it isn’t more than expected and never gets out of control.

Drying times were average or better, too. You’ll find some mild show-through on office copy, but it isn’t distracting and there’s little or no bleed-through. This is a reasonably good ink in overall performance.
